Frequently asked questions

Do you have questions about our company and telemedicine service?

In this section, you will find the answer to your question — if not, please contact us.

1 — What is VetRad?

VetRad is a group of diagnostic imaging specialists in veterinary medicine and was founded by Dr. Nele Eley, Dr. Kerstin von Pückler and Dr. Ilva Drumm. Our goal is to provide you with the best support and care for your patients.

2 — How does VetRad work?

Our service includes individual guidance, support and detailed reports conducted from your diagnostic imaging studies. You can upload your patient’s images directly in our upload section and will receive a detailed report by one of our specialists within 24h (emergency cases within 4–6h) via email.

3 — What is Teleradiology?

Teleradiology is the transmission of digitized medical images (such as radiographs, CT, MRI and ultrasonography) from one place on the planet to another. It allows for a written report conducted by diagnostic imaging specialists at any point in time and any place on earth.

4 — What is a DICOM format?

DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) is an open standard for storing and transmitting medical images. It enables the integration of medical imaging devices, such as radiography, ultrasonography, CT, MRI etc., with network hardware, workstations, printers and servers. The included metadata allows for correct transmission of patient and client information.

5 — How can I submit a case to the VetRad diagnostic imaging specialists?

Use our easy and intuitive digital Upload system to submit your medical images. Follow the simple upload instructions — ideally using a DICOM format. Following the successful upload, a confirmation email will be sent to you.

One of our diagnostic imaging experts will provide you with a detailed description and interpretation of your images. The report will be tailored in context of clinical relevance in order to provide the best support for you and your patient.

You will receive a report via email during regular working hours and within 24h (or within 4–6h for emergency cases). If requested, a message will be sent to your mobile device to inform you that the imaging report is now available to you.

6 — What will the report look like?

You will receive a structured and detailed diagnostic imaging report that fits your needs as a clinician, encompassing the following:

– Description and analysis of the provided medical images
– Interpretation of the images in regards to the clinical question
– Recommendations for further diagnostic or therapeutic actions
– Illustrated images of the relevant findings

7 — What are the turn-around times?

You will receive your specialists report typically within 24h. In emergency cases the turn-around time is 4–6h, if requested.
